“Orientation” is a technical mathematical term. I think “position” would be what’s wanted here.
It’s not the sequence that’s recursive, but rather a way of describing it.
The “story line” of this activity isn’t nearly so clear to me as in previous activities….
The first part of this sentence is crucial, yet it might get lost because it’s part of an “if” clause. “The key is to assume…” might be a good way to set it off. In fact, the assumption might be indicated on a graph, for visual learners.
